The Autumn Fair at Battersea Park. Last month. If ever you need help in working out how to decorate with simple items in taupe and liver colours, then this is the place to be.

I particularly liked this display of a pile of old books, with the distressed mirror picking up the red.
Another round mirror on a liver panelled wall. Again here, note that the shade of the flowers is virtually the same as the shade of the chest. Understated, but very clever.

A less successful picture I took. Also, of an arrangement that works less well. The flowers don't seem to add anything, and the colours too strong, even for the ebonised cylinder desk.

The Decorative Fair: www.decorativefair.com, three times a year. It profiles itself as the fair for works of art, mid-century modern, textiles and antiques.
